What's warez?
WAREZ is a term used by software pirates (aka. scene release groups). It describes a pirated/leaked/cracked game or application, a movie or tv serie, a music album and many more. Normally the warez is made available over the Internet, usually via a dedicated server aka. site or topsite. The release data is saved in a predb.
What's a predb?
A PREDB is a database where scene release groups save the information of their warez releases. The releases are sorted in categories, such as GAMES, MP3, TV, BLURAY, XXX and many more. Scene release informations such as file size, file count, category, genre, nuke status and nuke reason are also saved in the pre database.
What does „nuked“ mean?
In the warez scene, NUKE refers to labeling a release as 'bad'. A release could be nuked for different reasons, such as unusable software, bad video/audio quality, mislabeled name or for simply not following the scene relase rules. The nuked status should stop the promotion/distribution of the given release. The release group has to fix the problem before releasing it again as a REPACK. Other groups may also fix the problems and release a PROPER.
What's the purpose of a .NFO file?
Every scene release comes with a .nfo file. The NFO file stores basic informations about the release. It is also used to promote the rls group and it's kind of an artistic canvas, where ANSI/ASCII artists can present their creations to the scene (like a logo, ornaments, etc.).
